This Privacy Policy explains how FoodRank (“FoodRank,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, applications, and services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your email address and any profile details you provide, such as a username or name.
Activity you create. Votes, rankings, contest entries, reviews, photos, comments, follows, and similar content you submit.
Location preference. The city you select to browse local rankings. We do not collect precise device GPS location.
Restaurant / business information. If you claim a restaurant, information you provide to verify your association with the business and to manage your listing.
Usage and device data. Information collected automatically as you use the Service, such as pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and log data.
We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including rankings, contests, and recommendations; authenticate you and secure your account; detect and prevent fraud, vote manipulation, spam, and abuse; communicate with you about your account, activity, and updates; and comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We share information with trusted third-party processors only as needed to run the Service.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell your personal information.
We rely on these third parties to run FoodRank. Each processes only what it needs, under contract. We keep this list current.
When paid restaurant plans are available, payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment details directly under its own privacy policy; FoodRank does not store full payment card numbers. We retain limited billing records (such as plan, amount, and status) as needed for accounting and support.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify personal information that we are not required to keep, subject to technical and legal constraints.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your profile in the Service directly, and you can request account deletion or exercise other rights by contacting us at support@foodrnk.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
